2015 Flood Recovery & Drinking Water Resiliency
Resilient Water Supply
The installation of a new water supply intake directly from the Congaree River is a project of vital importance for the City of Columbia’s future, ensuring long-term resiliency and reliability for our community’s water needs. With a design capacity of 80 million gallons per day, the intake will provide critical redundancy for the Canal Water Treatment Plant while enabling much-needed repairs to the historic Canal embankment in the most economical and efficient way. This strategic investment strengthens Columbia’s infrastructure, safeguards essential services, and positions the City for sustainable growth and stability for generations to come.
